The challenge our customer brought us.
Organizations with legally siloed medical data were uncertain if federated learning could provide both sufficient accuracy for genomic health queries and effective privacy guarantees.
What we designed and delivered.
Knexus partnered with NIST/Census to diagnose and fix a critical data configuration error (data was "turned sideways") in their PPFL testbed, which was preventing meaningful output. Knexus also developed a directory of open source ML model attack libraries to better evaluate privacy.
The difference it made.
The testbed workflow is now proceeding efficiently, enabling the team to address key questions about the accuracy of federated learning for genomic queries, and assess the effective privacy provided by both standard and differentially private federated learning.
